
Unemployment is at 6.1%, its
highest level since September 2003. Until last month, unemployment had been 5.5% or lower every month since July 2004, so this jump is significant. Inflation is up this year, with oil playing a role.
Obama says, “the typical working age family's income is down $2,000 since George Bush took office,” but actually adjusted for inflation,
family income is up $1,200 between 2001 and 2007, the statistical series’ latest year.
